Development and Clinical Validation of Early-stage Lung Cancer Prognostic Kit

Lung CancerSurgery1 more

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide in spite of the advanced progresses in medication and low-dose CT screening. The early-stage lung cancer accounts for less than 50% of newly diagnosed lung cancer in Taiwan, even in stage IB patients proximately 30% still suffer from recurrence and metastasis. The International Cancer Moonshot Project recently established the first comprehensive proteogenomics profiling of early-stage lung cancer patients in East Asia, revealing a proteomics-informed classification to identify a new "late like" subtype, which can identify a subgroup of early-stage patients with worse clinicopathological features (Cell, Cover story, 2020). This study has been featured in prestigious journals (Nat Rev Clin Oncol; Cancer Discov, 2020) and led to two provisional US patents. In this proposal, taking the discovery from the Cancer Moonshot multiomics database, the investigators aim to translate these findings into clinical utilities. Two subprojects are proposed. (1) Validation of "late-like" protein markers for identifying high-risk early-stage lung cancer: Two IVD kits will be developed, including high-risk early-stage lung cancer IHC prediction kit for tumor staining and high-risk early lung cancer ELISA prediction kit for noninvasive diagnosis. (2) Conducting a prospective clinical trial to evaluate the accuracy of high-risk early-stage lung cancer IHC prediction kit and high-risk early-stage lung cancer ELISA prediction kit.

Extracellular Vesicles and Particles (EVP) as Biomarkers of Recurrence in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer...

Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

The purpose of this study is to find out if fluid rinsed from peoples' airways (bronchial washing samples) during routine surgery to remove (resect) their non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tumors contains enough vesicles to do testing that may help the researchers learn more about their NSCLC.

New Serum Biomarkers for Monitoring Early Diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer Recurrence

Ovarian Cancer

In this study, mass spectrometry was used to analyze immune inflammation-related protein complexes, post-translational modified glycopeptide omics and tumor-related metabolomics in serum, respectively, in order to find potential metabolic small molecule biomarkers or marker profiles that can be used for early diagnosis of cancer recurrence.

Identification of Risk Factors for Recurrence of Low Back Pain and Occupational Repercussions

Low Back Pain

Low back pain (LBP) is the leading cause of disability and one of the most common reasons for physician visits in primary care, with a 33 % rate of recurrence during the first year, converting LBP into a chronic condition. The french High healthy authority recommend early occupational oriented intervention associated with a multidisciplinary rehabilitation program. However even if these recommendations are taken into appropriate account, risk for recurrence of Low back pain and occupational repercussions often occured. This study aims to identify the risk factor(s) of sick leave after a rehabilitation stay in outpatients and thus adapt cares provided to the patients in respect of their needs and expectations.

Breast Cancer 2-PREVENT Translational Center of Excellence (TCE) - Metastatic Markers of Recurrent...

Women With Suspected or Confirmed Recurrent Breast Cancer

This is a cohort study of women with suspected or confirmed recurrent breast cancer, with accessible tumor by standard clinical biopsy, prior to starting a new therapy for recurrent metastatic disease. Study participants will be ascertained from the population of all persons greater than eighteen years of age receiving care at the clinical practices of the Rowan Breast Center (RBC) at the University of Pennsylvania. The overarching goal of this study is to identify the genetic and molecular markers of molecular evolution identified in patients who have progressed from a primary diagnosis of breast cancer to recurrent, metastatic disease. As an observational study, this study seeks to gather data regarding the molecular and genetic changes that a primary cancer undergoes as a patient's cancer recurs and ultimately progresses. We anticipate enrolling 600 women with recurrent breast cancer who meet eligibility requirements for this study. Participation in this study will include the following: a biopsy and blood collection, completion of the study questionnaire, an optional bone marrow aspiration, and repeat collection of blood, offer of a research biopsy and a optional bone marrow aspirate collection at each progression time point. The study participants' medical information will be updated and changes in disease status will be captured on a regular basis.

Matched Targeted Therapy For High-Risk Leukemias and Myelodysplastic Syndrome

RecurrentRefractory2 more

This research study is seeking to gain new knowledge about Recurrent, Refractory, or High Risk Leukemias in children and young adults. This study is evaluating the use of specialized testing called leukemia profiling. Once the profiling is performed, the results are evaluated by an expert panel of physicians, scientists and pharmacists. This may result in a recommendation for a specific cancer therapy or a clinical trial called matched targeted therapy (MTT). The results of the leukemia profiling and, if applicable, the MTT recommendation will be communicated to the participant's primary oncologist.
