Anlotinib Combined With Niraparib Dual Therapy in Platinum-resistant Recurrent Ovarian Clear Cell...

Platinum-resistant Recurrent Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer

According to the definition of National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) is a less common subtype of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) . The preliminary trial ANNIE (NCT04376073) shows a promising efficacy and safety profile for the ANNIE combo (anlotinib+niraparib). There is limited progress in targeted therapy for those less common ovarian cancers. In this study (CC-ANNIE), we aim to evaluate the antitumor activity and safety of niraparib combined with anlotinib in patients with platinum-resistant or platinum-refractory OCCC.

Biliary Fistula and Late Recurrence of Liver Hydatid Cyst: Role of Cysto-biliary Communication

Liver Surgery

Purpose : The primary goals of this study were to determine the prevalence and risk factors of occult CBC and recurrence, as well as the relationship between occult cysto-biliary communications manifested as postoperative biliary leakage and recurrence. The secondary goal was to use chemical analysis of hydatid cyst fluid to assess excessive bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase levels as predictors of fistula and recurrence. Methods: This prospective multi-center experimental and follow-up study of six years duration was conducted at the hepato-biliary pancreatic units of our universities hospitals from September 2010 to September 2016. Initially, 292 patients were included, but only 244 patients enrolled in the final study.

Elucidating the Microbiome in Patients With Recurrent Pregnancy Loss

MicrobiomeRecurrent Pregnancy Loss

Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is defined as 2 or more consecutive miscarriages1 This condition affects about 1-3% of couples during their reproductive years. The role of vaginal infections in RPL is controversial and microbiological screening is not recommended as per the international guidelines. Current theories suggest that altered vaginal and uterine microbiota may trigger an inflammatory response in the endometrium even without the presence of clinical infection which could affect the success of embryo implantation and future development of pregnancy2 .Changes in the uterine microbiota can lead to chronic endometritis (CE). This condition is caused by continuing inflammation of the endometrium, involving a variety of common bacterial and yeast species and has been associated with RPL3 . Notably, CE can be found in up to 45% of infertile patients4. Current diagnosis of CE is based on histopathological examination, immunohistochemistry assay for CD138 cells and morphological appearance on hysteroscopy. While antibiotic treatment can improve ongoing pregnancy rates in patients with RPL treatment success is still partial and unpredictable. A mechanistic link is yet to be established between vaginal and uterine microbiota and RPL and it is unknown whether restoration of the microbiome in patients with RPL can improve pregnancy outcomes.

Clinical Effectiveness of Bonded Versus Vacuum-formed Retainers

Relapse

The purpose of the study was to compare the clinical effectiveness of bonded versus vacuum-formed retainers regarding their retention capacity; periodontal health; survival rates; and patients' perception after 12 months of removal of fixed appliances. The null hypotheses considered that there was no differences between the retainers in relation to the aspects evaluated.

The Salivary and Faecal Microbiome of Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis Patients Before and After Treatment...

Recurrent Aphthous Ulcers

Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is one of the most common ulcerative diseases affecting the oral mucosa. The aetiology remains unknown, but several local, systemic, immunologic, genetic, allergic, nutritional, and microbial factors have been proposed as causative agents. Clinically, RAS is characterised by recurrent bouts of one or several rounded, shallow, painful oral ulcers at intervals of a few months or days. The aim of this study is to characterise the salivary and faecal microbiome in 20 patients with RAS and compare the findings with those of 20 healthy controls. The study also includes a double-blind randomized placebo-controlled intervention with probiotics (Lactobacillus reuteri-containing lozenges 2 tablets daily for 3 months) or placebo. The salivary and faecal microbiome in RAS patients is compared before and after treatment. This study will improve our understanding of the pathogenesis in RAS and provide us with knowledge on potential future therapeutic approaches.
