Microtubule inhibitors, such as eribulin mesylate, may stop or slow the growth of tumor cells by disrupting the cell cycle.

Use of Technological Advances to Prevent Smoking Relapse Among Smokers With PTSD

The primary goal of the study is to evaluate the use of a new smart phone application in preventing relapse to smoking among people with PTSD. The technology intervention will combine a mobile system to reward non-smoking, smoking cessation counseling, smoking cessation medications, and use of the smart phone app. The primary aim is to evaluate how effective this intervention is in preventing smoking relapse compared to another intervention that does not include the app.

Lenalidomide and Obinutuzumab in Treating Patients With Relapsed Indolent Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of lenalidomide when given together with obinutuzumab and how well this combination works in treating patients with low-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) that has returned after a period of improvement (relapsed). Biological therapies, such as lenalidomide, may attack specific cancer cells and stop them from growing or kill them. Obinutuzumab is a form of targeted therapy because it attaches itself to specific molecules (receptors) on the surface of cancer cells, known as CD20 receptors. When obinutuzumab attaches to CD20 receptors, the signals that tell the cells to grow are blocked and the cancer cell may be marked for destruction by the body's immune system. Giving lenalidomide and obinutuzumab together may work better in treating NHL.

This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of vorinostat when given together with fludarabine phosphate, clofarabine, and busulfan in treating patients with acute leukemia that is under control (remission) or has returned (relapse) undergoing donor stem cell transplant. Vorinostat may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as fludarabine phosphate, clofarabine, and busulfan, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving vorinostat together with fludarabine phosphate, clofarabine, and busulfan before a donor stem cell transplant may be a better treatment for patients with acute leukemia.

This randomized phase II trial studies how well bevacizumab with or without fosbretabulin tromethamine works in treating patients with ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cavity cancer that has come back or is persistent. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, find tumor cells and help kill them. Bevacizumab and fosbretabulin tromethamine may stop the growth of ovarian cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor. It is not yet known whether bevacizumab is more effective with or without fosbretabulin tromethamine in treating ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cavity cancer.

This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and the best dose of veliparib when given together with bendamustine hydrochloride and rituximab and to see how well they work in treating patients with lymphoma, multiple myeloma, or solid tumors that have come back or have not responded to treatment. Veliparib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as bendamustine hydrochloride, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as rituximab, can block cancer growth in different ways. Some find cancer cells and help kill them or carry cancer-killing substances to them. Others interfere with the ability of cancer cells to grow and spread. Giving veliparib together with bendamustine hydrochloride and rituximab may kill more cancer cells.

PURPOSE: Cetuximab with platinum and 5FU is now the standard combination as first-line treatment in patients with metastatic or recurrent Head and Neck squamous cell carcinomas. Cetuximab and taxane combinations have demonstrated promising activity in Head and Neck cancer. This phase II trial is studying new cetuximab, docetaxel and cisplatin combination named TPEx as first-line treatment in this setting.
