This is an open-label, pilot study in patients with a diagnosis of recurrent ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal carcinoma who have undergone standard cytoreductive surgery following by adjuvant chemotherapy. It is expected that this first surgery was optimal - as defined as no residual tumor > or = 1 centimeter. Patient has clinical evidence of a first recurrence. The patient undergoes surgery and isotonic normal saline (perfusate) heated and administered into the abdomen, followed by hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy infusion (HIPC) administering carboplatin (chemotherapy). Six weeks after surgery patients will receive adjuvant chemotherapy with Paclitaxel and Carboplatin for 6 cycles.

Isotretinoin may help cells that are involved in the body's immune response to work better. Giving erlotinib hydrochloride together with isotretinoin may kill more tumor cells

This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of iodine I 131 monoclonal antibody BC8 when given before autologous stem cell transplant in treating patients with Hodgkin lymphoma or non-Hodgkin lymphoma that has returned after a period of improvement or does not respond to treatment. Radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies, such as iodine I 131 monoclonal antibody BC8, can find cancer cells and carry cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Giving iodine I 131 monoclonal antibody BC8 before an autologous stem cell transplant may kill more cancer cells.

This phase II trial is studying how well rituximab works in preventing acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in patients undergoing a donor stem cell transplant for hematologic cancer. Giving chemotherapy and total-body irradiation before a donor stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It may also stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. The donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune cells and help destroy any remaining cancer cells (graft-versus-tumor effect). Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can also make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving a monoclonal antibody, rituximab, together with anti-thymocyte globulin, tacrolimus, and mycophenolate mofetil before and after the transplant may stop this from happening

Naltrexone Implants as Relapse Prevention

The purpose of this clinical trial is to study the efficacy and safety of naltrexone implants as relapse prevention for patients that are completing treatment for opiate addiction in inpatient (or similarly controlled) settings. Participants in the naltrexone experimental group are prematched in a pairwise fashion with other patients who do not want a naltrexone implant during the first six months after ending inpatient treatment, but who reiceive treatment as usual (TAU) from the Norwegian healthcare system. The hypotheses are that quality of life, depression, opioid use, will be significantly better in the naltrexone group compared to the non at 6-, 12-, and 18-month follow-up. We also hypothesize that the implants can prevent death from opioid overdose up to 6 months after commenced treatment.

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SR58611A (350 mg BID) compared to placebo in the prevention of relapse of anxiety, in patients with Generalized Anxiety Disorder improved after 12 weeks of treatment with SR58611A. The primary objective is to evaluate the efficacy of SR58611A 350mg BID compared to placebo over a 24 to 52-week treatment period. The secondary objective is to assess the safety and tolerability of SR58611A in patients with GAD.

There is increasing evidence that worsening of ulcerative colitis (UC) can be provoked by psychological stresses. When this protocol was devised, there had been no proper scientific studies to find out whether stress reduction can improve the course of UC. Hypnotherapy is a technique by which a practitioner induces a temporary trance-like state in patients: while they are in this state, the practitioner uses suggestion to induce relaxation as well as beneficial modification of the way in which the patient experiences the gut working. In previous studies in our lab, we have shown that a single 50 minute session of hypnosis can reduce special indicators of inflammation both in the blood-stream and in the lining of the lower bowel (rectum). Furthermore, in earlier work by others, hypnosis had been shown to be effective in the treatment of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, duodenal ulcer and indigestion unassociated with ulcers. Many patients with UC need to take the immunosuppressive drug, azathioprine, in addition to a 5ASA drug, to keep their disease under control. While azathioprine is usually effective in maintaining remission of UC, it does require regular drug checks and carries the risk of possible side-effects. We undertook a study of hypnotherapy to see whether it can prevent relapse (worsening) of UC in patients who normally need to take azathioprine to keep their UC inactive. To do this, we planned to ask 66 patients who agreed to participate in the trial to stop their azathioprine. They were then to be allocated to receive either gut-focussed hypnotherapy (44 patients) or, as a control, non-emotive educational sessions (22 patients) once a month for 3 months, with intervening self-hypnosis daily in the active arm. The numbers of patients in each group who developed relapse of their UC in a year were recorded. We diagnosed relapse from patients' diaries recording diarrhoea and bleeding, and by sigmoidoscopy. It was hoped that this clinical trial would identify a new drug-free way of reducing the chances of relapse in patients with UC.
