Low-Dose Total-Body Irradiation and Fludarabine Phosphate Followed by Unrelated Donor Stem Cell...
Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia in RemissionAdult Acute Myeloid Leukemia With 11q23 (MLL) Abnormalities9 moreBased on success in other diseases, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) has developed a transplant procedure for Fanconi anemia (FA), which does not completely destroy the patient's remaining bone marrow. It should also be less harmful (toxic). Researchers wish to test whether this approach can overcome the graft failure often seen when bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cells from an unrelated donor are used. Researchers also will look at whether the procedure is less toxic than a conventional bone marrow transplant (BMT).

Tanespimycin in Treating Young Patients With Recurrent or Refractory Leukemia or Solid Tumors
Childhood Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaChildhood Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor12 moreThis phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of tanespimycin in treating young patients with recurrent or refractory leukemia or selected solid tumors. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as tanespimycin, work in different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die.

Study Evaluating the Addition of Amifostine (Ethyol®) to Idarubicin and Cytosine Arabinoside in...
LeukemiaAcute Myeloid LeukemiaThe primary objectives of this study are: To evaluate whether the addition of amifostine will allow for the safe administration of idarubicin at a dose of 21 mg/m² in combination with standard-dose ara-C in older patients with newly diagnosed, previously untreated acute myeloid leukemia (AML); and To estimate the complete remission rate of induction therapy with amifostine, idarubicin (21 mg/m²), plus ara-C or induction therapy with idarubicin (12 mg/m²) plus ara-C in this patient population.

Study of Talabostat and Rituximab in Advanced Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)
Chronic Lymphocytic LeukemiaThe objective of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of talabostat and rituximab in patients with advanced CLL who failed to respond, or have progressed following a prior response, to a fludarabine regimen.

Mycophenolate Mofetil and Cyclosporine in Reducing Graft-Versus-Host Disease in Patients With Hematologic...
Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAdult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Remission134 moreThis phase I/II trial studies whether stopping cyclosporine before mycophenolate mofetil is better at reducing the risk of life-threatening graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) than the previous approach where mycophenolate mofetil was stopped before cyclosporine. The other reason this study is being done because at the present time there are no curative therapies known outside of stem cell transplantation for these types of cancer. Because of age or underlying health status, patients may have a higher likelihood of experiencing harm from a conventional blood stem cell transplant. This study tests whether this new blood stem cell transplant method can be made safer by changing the order and length of time that immune suppressing drugs are given after transplant.

Irinotecan and Cytarabine in Treating Patients With Refractory or Recurrent Acute Myeloid Leukemia...
LeukemiaRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of combining irinotecan with cytarabine in treating patients who have refractory or recurrent acute myeloid leukemia or chronic myelogenous leukemia.

FR901228 in Treating Children With Refractory or Recurrent Solid Tumors or Leukemia
Blastic Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaChildhood Central Nervous System Germ Cell Tumor24 moreThis phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of FR901228 in treating children with refractory or recurrent solid tumors or leukemia. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die

Combination Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Recurrent or Refractory Leukemia or Lymphoma...
LeukemiaLymphomaRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining cytarabine and mitoxantrone in treating patients who have recurrent or refractory leukemia or lymphoma.

Combination Chemotherapy and Rituximab in Treating Patients With Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia or...
LeukemiaLymphomaRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Combining chemotherapy with monoclonal antibody therapy may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining pentostatin and cyclophosphamide with rituximab in treating patients who have chronic lymphocytic leukemia or lymphocytic lymphoma.

Donor Stem Cell Transplant in Treating Patients With Hematologic Cancer
LeukemiaLymphoma2 moreRATIONALE: Giving chemotherapy and total-body irradiation before a donor peripheral stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer and abnormal cells and helps stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. When the stem cells from a related donor, that do not exactly match the patient's blood, are infused into the patient they may help the patient's bone marrow make stem cells, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving chemotherapy with or without radiation therapy followed by donor stem cell transplant works in treating patients with hematologic cancer.
