Evaluating the Safety of Two Medications to Treat Hepatitis C in People With Thalassemia (The HepC...
Hepatitis CThalassemiaHepatitis C is one of the most common causes of long-term liver disease in the United States. Ribavirin and peginterferon alfa-2a are two medications that are used to treat hepatitis C infection. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety of these two medications in adults with hepatitis C and thalassemia, a type of blood disorder.

Interferon-gamma With Interferon Alpha and Ribavirin for Hepatitis C Non-responders
Hepatitis CGenotype 32 moreWhen administered simultaneously, interferon-alpha 2b + interferon-gamma result in dramatic antiviral synergy.Ribavirin has shown to enhance interferon-gamma levels in patients with chronic hepatitis C treated with interferon-alpha. Enhancement of immune responses, especially those related to type-1 T helper cell activity, may contribute to better efficacy in combining ribavirin with IFN-alpha for treatment of chronic hepatitis C. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a triple regimen, a combination treatment with Interferon gamma, Interferon alfa-2b plus Ribavirin in patients who have not previously responded to interferon alpha in combination of ribavirin.

A Study of TMC435350 Administered With or Without Standard of Care Therapy in Participants With...
Hepatitis CChronicThe purpose of this study is to investigate how efficient TMC435350 will work against the Hepatitis C virus genotype 1 (genotypes refer to the genetic constitution of the virus) and what the concentrations of TMC435350 in the blood are with or without pegylated interferon alpha-2a (PegIFNa-2a) or PegIFNa-2a plus ribavirin.

Study the Safety and Effectiveness of MK7009 in Hepatitis C Infected Patients (MK-7009-004)(COMPLETED)...
Hepatitis CThe purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness, safety, and tolerability of MK7009 in patients infected with Hepatitis C

A Study of PEGASYS (Peginterferon Alfa-2a (40KD)) in Combination With Ribavirin in Patients With...
Hepatitis CChronicThis study will evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of PEGASYS plus ribavirin in patients with CHC who could not tolerate or were not responsive to 12 weeks of therapy with PEG-Intron plus ribavirin. The anticipated time on study treatment is 1-2 years, and the target sample size is >100 individuals.

Treatment Insulin Resistence in HCV G-1 Patient
Chronic Hepatitis CTo evaluate the effect of treatment of insulin resistance in the response of chronic hepatitis C treatment, mesure as HCV-RNA negative at week 72. 4.3.2 Objetivos secundarios To evaluate the efficacy and safety of treatment with metformine to erradicate the insulin resistance of patients with chornic hepatitis C genotype 1 measure as HOMA-IR < 2.

Treatment of Hepatitis C in Hemophilic Patients With HIV
HIV InfectionsHepatitis C1 morePegylated interferon (PEG-interferon) and ribavirin are accepted treatments for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. However, HCV infection progresses differently in patients who are coinfected with HIV and in hemophiliacs. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of PEG-interferon and ribavirin for treating HCV in HIV infected hemophiliacs.

IdB 1016 Treatment for Hepatitis C Disease
Hepatitis CChronicThis study will measure the safety and tolerability of three different doses of IdB 1016 in patients with hepatitis C disease who have not responded to or are poor candidates for interferon-based therapies. NOTE: THE STUDY WILL ONLY RECRUIT STUDY PARTICIPANTS AT UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON MEDICAL CENTER IN SEATTLE

Low-Dose Peginterferon and Ribavirin to Treat Chronic Hepatitis C in Patients Infected With HCV...
Hepatitis CThis study will examine the effectiveness of low-dose peginterferon and ribavirin therapy for certain patients with chronic hepatitis C-a liver disease that, in some patients, can progress to cirrhosis of the liver, liver cancer, and liver failure.

SB497115 (Oral Thrombopoietin Receptor Agonist) Versus Placebo In Adults With Thrombocytopenia Due...
Hepatitis CChronic2 moreSB497115 is an oral agent which activates the thrombopoietin receptor and increases platelet counts in healthy volunteers. This study is examining several different doses of SB497115 as a treatment for patients with chronic hepatitis C-related thrombocytopenia who are potential candidates for antiviral treatment with pegylated interferon and ribavirin. The study will be conducted in two phases, Parts 1 and 2. In Part 1, study subjects will be randomized to 4 weeks of SB-497115-GR or placebo administered daily without antiviral therapy. Subjects who successfully complete Part 1 (platelet count 70,000/µL for Pegasys and platelet count 100,000/µL for PEG-Intron) will then proceed to Part 2. In Part 2, subjects will receive an additional 8 weeks of SB-497115-GR or placebo administered daily with antiviral therapy.
