Internet-delivered CBT for Asthma-related Anxiety: Feasibility
AsthmaThis is a study to investigate acceptability and feasibility of a novel protocol on exposure-based CBT for asthma-related fear delivered over the Internet (Internet-CBT).

The Mannitol-Asthma-Ciclesonide-Study
AsthmaBronchialResponse of a 4 weeks treatment with daily once 320 µg ciclesonide on airway hyperresponsiveness assessed with mannitol. Hypothesis: Treatment with inhaled ciclesonide reduces airway hyper-responsiveness in 80% of hyper-responsive patients compared to 20% only in the placebo group and the group without airway hyper-responsiveness.

Smoking Cessation Intervention in Respiratory Inpatients
Pulmonary DiseaseChronic Obstructive2 moreProspective, open-label, parallel-group, 52-week trial comparing varenicline in combination with behavioral support with one session of behavioral support alone. Eligible patients were smokers hospitalized due to a) acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or b) bronchial asthma attack, or c) community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). The primary outcome was the success rate (%) at week 52. Secondary outcomes were quality of life (QoL) alterations on the domains of the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF36) and investigation of possible predictors for smoking abstinence.

AZD1419 Ph2a Study
AsthmaPh2a study planned to be run at approximately 16-18 sites in 4 EU countries (Denmark, Hungary, Poland and Sweden) enrolling approximately 170 patients to ensure 70 randomized patients with eosinophilic, moderate to severe asthma. The patients will receive 13 once weekly inhaled doses of the study drug. Treatment is initiated on top of their ICS/LABA controller medication, which is then tapered down and withdrawn during a period of 3 weeks and during the last 3 weeks of treatment the study drug is given as monotherapy. SABA is used as reliever medication during the whole study period. Primary endpoint is Loss of asthma control. When the endpoint is met, patients will resume their ICS/LABA, will be followed for an additional 4 weeks and will thereafter discontinue the study.

Assessing Inflammatory and Behavioral Pathways Linking PTSD to Increased Asthma Morbidity in WTC...
AsthmaPTSDAsthma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are the most common conditions in World Trade Center (WTC) rescue and recovery workers. In this study, the study team will evaluate the interplay of biological and behavioral mechanisms explaining the relationship of PTSD with increase asthma morbidity and adapt and pilot test a novel intervention to improve outcomes of WTC workers.

Real-time Remote Asthma Monitoring Through Smartphone Voice Analysis
AsthmaThis study examines the impact of home-based monitoring of respiratory function in asthma patients via a smartphone-based vocal biomarker platform. Previous work from cross-sectional studies has indicated that brief voice samples, analyzed by machine learning models, can predict the presence of respiratory conditions (asthma, COPD, ILD, COVID-19 and persistent cough) with an accuracy of approximately 70%. The present study seeks to extend these findings to establish whether the same vocal biomarker models can accurately track changes in respiratory function in asthma patients, and whether this capability, when incorporated into a smartphone app similar to those used for home-based asthma management, can improve relative level of asthma control.

Real World Evidence of Benralizumab in Eosinophilic Severe AsThma in Russia (BEST)
Severe Eosinophilic AsthmaBenralizumab is a humanised, afucosylated, monoclonal antibody against the interleukin (IL)-5 receptor (IL-5R) α subunit that induces direct, rapid, and near-complete depletion of eosinophils in blood, airway tissue, and bone marrow through enhanced antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC). This apoptotic process involves natural killer cells responsible for the controlled eosinophilic elimination. In the two pivotal phase III trials SIROCCO and CALIMA, benralizumab was well tolerated, significantly reduced asthma exacerbations by up to 51%, and improved lung function as well as disease control in patients with severe, uncontrolled asthma and blood eosinophil count of ≥ 300 cells/μL blood, receiving both ICS and LABA. According to the summary of product's characteristics (SmPC) of benralizumab in Russia, it can be used for an add-on maintenance treatment for adult patients with severe eosinophilic asthma. All patients enrolled in the BEST study will comply with the SmPC approved by the Russian Ministry of Health.

An Efficacy and Safety Study of Fluticasone Furoate/Vilanterol 100/25 Microgram (mcg) Inhalation...
AsthmaThis study is a randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, parallel group, multicenter, non-inferiority study. The study will enroll adult and adolescent asthmatic subjects who are currently receiving mid dose inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) plus long-acting beta2-agonist (LABA) (equivalent to fluticasone propionate [FP]/salmeterol 250/50 microgram [mcg]twice daily [BD]), either via a fixed dose combination product or through separate inhalers. The study consists of a LABA washout period of 5 days and a run-in period of 4 weeks, followed by a treatment period of 24 weeks, and a follow up contact period of one week. The total duration of the study is 30 weeks. Approximately 1461 subjects will be randomized to one of the following three treatments (487 per treatment): fluticasone furoate (FF)/vilanterol (VI) 100/25 mcg once daily (OD) in the evening (PM) via ELLIPTA™ inhaler plus placebo BD via ACCUHALER™/DISKUS™; FP/salmeterol 250/50 mcg BD via ACCUHALER/DISKUS inhaler plus placebo OD (PM) via ELLIPTA inhaler; FP 250 mcg BD via ACCUHALER/DISKUS inhaler plus placebo OD (PM) via ELLIPTA inhaler. In addition, all subjects will be supplied with albuterol/salbutamol inhalation aerosol to use as needed to treat acute asthma symptoms. This study will determine if FF/VI 100/25 mcg OD via ELLIPTA inhaler is non-inferior to FP/salmeterol 250/50 mcg BD via ACCUHALER/DISKUS inhaler in adult and adolescent asthmatic subjects already adequately controlled on a twice-daily ICS/LABA. SERETIDE, ELLIPTA, ACCUHALER, RELVAR, and DISKUS are trademarks of the GlaxoSmithKline Group of Companies.
