The study is designed to obtain safety and efficacy data on three dose levels of indacaterol when delivered via an SDDPI in patients with persistent asthma. All patients will receive 1 day of treatment with each of the following: indacaterol 150 µg, indacaterol 300 µg, indacaterol 600 µg, placebo, and formoterol. Each treatment day will be followed by a washout-period of 1 week

This study was designed to provide data about the safety and efficacy of 3 doses of indacaterol (150, 300, and 600 µg) in Japanese asthma patients so that an optimal dose, or doses, could be chosen for testing in later studies.

The purpose of this study is to determine the safety of an anti-asthma herbal medicine intervention (ASHMI) in adult asthmatics and to see what effects ASHMI has on certain parts of the immune system.

The purpose of the study is to find out how well a long-acting beta agonist like salmeterol works in people with different forms of the same gene. Our hypothesis is that asthmatics with the Arg/Arg genotype will have loss of bronchoprotection against exercise-induced asthma with regular salmeterol treatment, as compared to asthmatics with the Gly/Gly genotype.

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate if children with acute asthma given a single dose of oral prednisolone with a subsequent daily five-day course of oral Montelukast will achieve a therapeutic failure rate at day 8 not significantly higher than those given six daily doses of oral prednisolone. Secondary objectives include comparison of the two groups with respect to the changes in symptoms, beta2 agonists, clinical asthma score and days without asthma by day 8.
