A comparison of oral prednisolone administration with intravenous methylprednisolone infusion in the treatment of acute asthma exacerbation in hospitalized patients. Oral glucocorticosteroids administration may be effective as intravenous high-dose methylprednisolone infusion.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of IMA-026, an antibody to IL-13, on airway hyperresponsiveness and airway inflammation in mild asthmatics. IMA-026 will be given as 2 injections under the skin 1 week apart at 2 mg/kg each dose. The study will include a screening period and a treatment period which includes doses on day 1 and day 8.

The medications being used in this study are individually approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The medication under investigation is a combination of the two medications in one inhaler. The purpose of the study is to determine how the medication affects the amount, if any, of cortisol produced by the adrenal glands.

A one year study comparing the safety and effectiveness of Pulmicort (0.5mg strength given once a day in the evening) with either 4 or 5mg strength SINGULAR (given once a day in the evening) in children with asthma aged 2 to 8. If allocated to SINGULAR treatment, children aged between 2 and 5 will receive 4mg strength SINGULAR and those aged between 6 and 8 will receive 5mg strength SINGULAR.
