The CPAP trial is a 3-arm parallel design randomized sham-controlled trial. Participants are randomly assigned in equal allocation to one of three treatments: CPAP 10 cm water (H₂O) (high) vs. CPAP 5 cm H₂O (medium) vs. CPAP Sham (less than 1 cm H₂O, Low). The treatment period is 12 weeks with airways reactivity assessed at baseline, 6 and 12 weeks of treatment and after a 2 week washout.

Multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo- and active-controlled, Phase II, parallel-group study of up to four weeks in duration. The study consisted of a screening visit followed by a one-week single blind placebo period. At next visit, each subject was randomized to one of four treatment groups: 90 mcg levalbuterol, 180 mcg levalbuterol, 180 mcg racemic albuterol, or placebo. All study medication was administered as 2 actuations 4 times a day for 21 days.

Efficacy Study of SYN006 HFA MDI in Asthma Patients

Asthma

The objective of the study is to evaluate the dose response of SYN006 HFA MDI, which is a combination drug product of budesonide and procaterol hydrochloride, in asthma patients. Patients with mild to moderate asthma will be recruited. There will be two study medication administered in this study. The investigational medication is SYN006 (Budesonide/Procaterol hydrochloride, 180 mcg/10 mcg per inhalation) and the active comparative medication is Ventolin (Salbutamol sulfate 100 mcg per inhalation). The study medication will be administered by oral inhalation with the supervision of the investigator or a qualified staff.

Lung Function Changes of Induced Asthma Children Treated With Inhaled MgSO4

As a non-selective bronchodilator, magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) is effective when administered intravenously in the treatment of the patients with acute severe asthma not responding to conventional therapy (oxygen, nebulized salbutamol, and corticosteroids), which can resulted in earlier improvement in clinical signs and symptoms of asthma and PEF. However, the use of intravenous MgSO4 administered is not common in clinical practice, because it's prone to have adverse effects and side effects such as nausea, vomiting, facial flushing, hypotension, decreased tendon reflexes and so on with this treatment. The aerosolised route offers the advantage of lower dosage, a shorter time of drug being delivered to the airway smooth muscle and lower incidence of side effects when compared to the intravenous route. At present, there are only a few studies about the effects of nebulized MgSO4 in the treatment of acute asthma in children, and the conclusions are controversial.
